On Friday 14th June we enjoyed a working together day as part of our ongoing collaboration with Salesforce, a cloud based web design company that is partnering with our school to support the development of flexible learning spaces, ongoing professional development and further implementation of learning programs that support 21st century learning skills in our students with a particular emphasis on STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics). Our school established this partnership as a part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen our future focused learning strategies for our students to equip them with the learning skills that will be required by the diverse roles they may choose to go into as lifelong learners.
The day was a great success with the library now ready for the delivery of some new furniture to finish the refurbishment. It was fantastic to see our students working alongside web-designers, code programmers, and project managers to build a play library or prepare a wall for painting and overhear some of their conversations about what they do in the STEM field. It was also quite enjoyable to watch some of these highly qualified experts discuss the best way to put a cubby house together with ongoing consultation from Mrs. Coyle.
We made sure to have a quality control inspection from some kindergarten students who assured us it passed muster.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and staff who contributed time, tools and lunch to make the day a success and to Mrs Coyle for the huge effort in the ongoing organisation. A special thanks also to Mrs Banwell for using her sewing expertise to organise the recovering of all our library lounges and stools. We are so excited to see our library transform into a flexible learning space that supports students to become independent learners who can engage in critical and creative thinking through hands on, collaborative learning projects.
